Els Rose appointed Professor Late and Medieval Latin

Dr Els Rose has been appointed Professor Late and Medieval Latin as of 15 February 2018. The chair is situated within the Department of Languages, Literature and Communication and focuses on education and research in the field of Latin linguistics and literature of late antiquity and the Middle Ages.

Els Rose has been working as assistant professor since 2008 and since 2010 as associate professor, and is coordinator of the Greek and Latin minors. She is a researcher at the Utrecht Centre for Medieval Studies, of which she has been the chair since 2013. After her PhD in 2001 she acquired three research grants within the framework of the NWO Innovational Research Incentives Scheme: a VENI (2003), VIDI (2007) and VICI (2017). As part of her VICI project (2017-2022), she is conducting research into citizenship discourses in the early Middle Ages with two PhD students and two postdocs.
