Dr. Robert Flierman received his PhD (cum laude) from Utrecht University. He taught history and medieval Latin at the University of Amsterdam and the Radboud University Nijmegen, before returning to Utrecht. Within the project, he will work on the Christianization of civic terminology in late antiquity as well the relationship between early medieval civic discourse and urbanization. His other research interests include barbarian identity, Carolingian historiography, and early medieval letter delivery.
